The AIDE Project: Building the Future of Vulnerable Youth

Support for Reintegration at the Heart of Educational and Professional Action

The AIDE (Support for professional integration and educational development of vulnerable youth in the city of Yaoundé) project is an initiative led by the Edimar Princess Grace Center, which supports vulnerable children and young people in the city of Yaoundé in their educational journey and toward sustainable professional integration.

Launched in August 2025, this project aims to respond to the educational and professional needs of young people whose paths have been weakened by poverty, school dropout, or the lack of training opportunities. Through comprehensive support, the AIDE project places education, training, and human dignity at the heart of its action.

A Context Marked by Strong Inequalities in Access

In Cameroon, many children and young people face low levels of education, difficulties in accessing formal schooling, and a lack of training adapted to the realities of the job market. Young girls, in particular, remain more exposed to the risks of social and economic exclusion.

It is to address these challenges that the AIDE project was designed, targeting 93 beneficiaries, including 80 children in the education component, with particular attention given to the empowerment of young girls (50%), and 13 young people in the vocational training component, in order to promote their sustainable socio-professional integration.

Specific Objectives to Strengthen Young People’s Capacities

The AIDE project pursues clear and complementary objectives. First, it aims to facilitate access to inclusive and quality education for vulnerable children, an essential condition for their fulfillment and stability.

In addition, the project places particular emphasis on strengthening the technical and entrepreneurial skills of young people through adapted training pathways. This approach enables beneficiaries to develop practical know-how, fostering their autonomy and their ability to build a sustainable life plan.

Impacts Already Visible at Midpoint

At the halfway stage, the results of the AIDE project are already promising. 82 young people are gradually seeing their life trajectories transformed:

  • 75 children are supported in their educational journey in conventional schools and in the literacy centers of the Edimar Princess Grace Center;
  • 7 young people are engaged in a training process aimed at acquiring technical and entrepreneurial skills in sewing, metalwork, and midwifery practice.

Through this project, CEPG works to remove barriers to education, strengthen individual capacities, and provide young people with the tools necessary to build their future with dignity and autonomy. At the end of the project, beneficiaries will have improved educational and professional skills, strengthening their employability and their sustainable integration into society.

International Solidarity in the Service of Vulnerable Youth

The AIDE project is made possible thanks to supportive international cooperation, driven by the faithful commitment of CEPG’s partners. The Center wishes to express its deep gratitude to the Emilia-Romagna Region (Italy), the project’s main donor, as well as to AVSI, for their constant support in favor of the education and integration of vulnerable youth.

Thanks to this solidarity, the AIDE project concretely helps restore hope to children and young people for whom each educational or professional opportunity represents a decisive step toward a better future.
