Street Program

This program includes weekly street outreach, educational talks, and site visits to raise awareness among street youth about the dangers of street life.

The Street Program aims to establish direct and lasting connections with vulnerable youth. Each week, outreach teams visit various neighbourhoods to meet these young people, understand their realities, and provide them with guidance and support. We also organise educational talks, both at the Center and directly in the streets, to address crucial topics such as the constant dangers of street life and the possible ways to escape it.

Additionally, we regularly visit the places where these youth reside to gain deeper insight into their environment and to build trust. This approach allows us to raise awareness and guide them toward safer, more positive alternatives.

Our Mission
To conduct weekly street outreach, provide care and counseling, and direct young people toward the Center’s support services for comprehensive assistance.

Our mission is to support vulnerable youth through weekly outreach activities in key street zones including: Downtown, Mvan, Omnisport, and Etoudi. During these visits, we assess their needs and provide immediate care and support. We offer first aid, compassionate listening, and conduct educational discussions to increase awareness of the ongoing risks of street life.

Simultaneously, we refer youth to various services at the Center, providing access to healthcare, education, and sustainable solutions for their future—thus promoting their long-term reintegration into society.

Our Method
We build friendships and provide support through trust, respect, and active listening.

To ensure the success of this program, we emphasise a relationship-based approach built on trust and mutual respect. By forming genuine friendships with the youth, we encourage them to open up and accept the support offered. We also organise fun, cultural, and sports activities in the streets to encourage participation and foster personal growth.

Active listening is central to our strategy, helping us better understand their needs and concerns, and enabling us to tailor our support to each individual. This method makes the youth feel heard, valued, and motivated to take steps toward a better future.

Our Challenges
The main obstacles we face are the fear of commitment, greed, and the persistent pull of street life among the youth, which hinders their path toward a stable future.

One of our greatest challenges is the instability of the youth, often due to a lack of structure and hope for the future. This instability makes it difficult for them to engage with our programs and accept guidance. Many of them are wary and hesitant to trust others, which slows their active participation.

Greed—driven by the lure of quick gains in the street—also poses a significant challenge, as does a general lack of motivation among some, hindering their commitment to lasting change. Lastly, the constant pull of street life, with its illusion of freedom and escape, remains one of the most difficult barriers to overcome in our support work.

Our Results
We welcome around 108 young people each day at the Center and meet about 400 on the streets monthly.

On average, the Center welcomes 108 youth per day, and our outreach teams connect with approximately 400 young people each month directly in the streets. We use 6 boxes of 60 soaps (200g) each month during our street activities, contributing significantly to preserving hygiene among the youth.

These figures reflect the positive impact of the program on their physical and emotional well-being. Maintaining hygiene is a priority, and through consistent care, we help youth regain dignity and self-confidence—essential foundations for accessing support services and working toward reintegration.
