Reintegration Program

The Edimar Centre offers street children vocational training to help them become self-sufficient, meet their own needs, and avoid returning to life on the streets.

The Edimar Princesse Grace Centre is a place where street-involved youth are welcomed, trained, and supported in order to help them become autonomous and responsible individuals. We firmly believe that every child, regardless of background, has the same rights as any Cameroonian citizen.

Through practical and tailored training, our goal is to prepare them for a future where they can meet their own needs, contribute positively to society, and fully reintegrate into working life. By equipping them with professional skills, we provide them with the tools they need to avoid returning to the streets and to build a stable future.

Our Mission
To contribute to the reintegration of street youth by providing them with skills and a legal identity.

Professional reintegration is a key component of social reintegration and personal empowerment. It gives young people a real opportunity to build a better future.

In terms of family reintegration, our efforts focus on helping these young people return to their families, securing birth certificates and national identity cards to establish their legal existence.

Our Method
Supporting young people through training, logistical and administrative aid, and family reunification when appropriate.

Our approach is centred on personalised support, fostering strong bonds between young people and educators. Each youth is enrolled in a training center or workshop based on their preferences and intellectual level.

With the support of the Monegasque association MAP, we’ve implemented a professional scholarship project. Each scholarship covers the cost of training, food support, housing assistance, transportation, healthcare, and ongoing monitoring of the youth’s progress by an educator.

The family reintegration process begins with a social investigation to reconnect the youth with their family. An educator then accompanies the young person back home. Administrative steps such as obtaining birth certificates, national identity cards, and other documentation are also organised to facilitate legal and social reintegration.

Our Challenges
Youth instability, dropout rates, family rejection, and a lack of information and resources.

We face several challenges, including the professional and emotional instability of the youth. In vocational training, many drop out due to the pull of the streets or financial hardships.

At the same time, family reintegration is often hindered by family rejection or a lack of crucial information. These combined issues slow the path to lasting stability and make reintegration more difficult.

Our Results
Thanks to vocational training, many young people have found renewed hope, independence, and a brighter future.

Many youth who have participated in our training program have successfully reintegrated into promising professional sectors. Some earned certifications in office administration, opening up opportunities in management and clerical work. Others trained in men’s hairstyling, a profession offering many avenues for self-employment and independence. Another group trained in medical imaging—a highly technical and in-demand field—allowing them to enter the healthcare sector.

These trainings are designed to match labor market demands while equipping youth with practical, valued skills that ease their socio-professional integration. With this support, and the official documents provided, many have regained legal stability and rejoined their families.
